  1. A cowrie is a marine snail of the family
  2. Cypreidae, in which the interior spiral form
  3. is concealed by a double outer lip. 
  4. The shells are hard, shiny, and often 
  5. coloured. Most cowries are shallow water 
  6. forms, and are found in many parts of the 
  7. world, particularly the tropical 
  8. Indo-Pacific.
